Making an Oak Belt Buckle

This design is inspired by my favorite Oak tree that lives near me.

Here’s my process:

The design is hand drawn on paper and glued to a sheet of brass:

Holes are drilled into the metal to thread a tiny saw blade through for the jewelry saw and the tree pattern is cut out:

The backing is soldered on, corners get rounded, the whole thing is hammered into a shallow curve and belt hardware is soldered onto the back.

Forged Circles with balances

Small, 1/2″ hand forged circles hang under two swiveling “balancing” arms divided by Czech glass beads. All sterling silver. The circles are 1/2″ wide and hang 1 1/4″ from the ear.
